“Today I will listen with my heart, sans expectations.”

I woke up hearing the above intention repeating in my mind over and over.

What do you hear repeated in your own mind? Do you heed what is spoken to you? Where did the words come from… you? God?

Imagine going through the entire day with the intention of listening with your heart. Could you do it? Would it be difficult? Might it be a good exercise or practice to do daily?

The Dreamer in me says this is the way to my success; that there is no judgment on my part. I am open to new possibilities. I am calm. I am acceptance (which has played a huge role the past few weeks).

The Doubter has become silent.

I begin to remember why I love waking early in the morning; because my thoughts are fresh and pure, not swayed by distractions of television, news, or politics.

Yet there are times when we need to hear another’s words; for they impart wisdom unto us, our soul. The words can assist us in knowing what we want, or better still, knowing what we don’t want.

Do you know what it is that you don’t want? Make a list; yes, right now. Make a list of all the things you don’t want; do so without editing or stopping to think of what you’re writing. This will be the purest and the most revealing as to what your path is.

I know this because I wrote my list five years ago and all has come into being except the last thing, which there is one more year, plus a day, to have that come to fruition. The start of my list began, "By the time I'm age 55....."

Today I will listen with my heart, sans expectations.

Will you?

I have been focusing intently on the things that I do want and trying to achieve these goals. I never thought too list things that I don't want. I am curious. Is the reason for making this the list to rid yourself of the person you do not want to be?

Thanks Peg...for a thought provoking morning.

I forgot to say....

Thank you! Thank you for giving me a focus for my day.
Today I listen and act with my heart. I will not get caught up in the negativity of others or events that have no affect on the 'bigger picture' of my life. Because, indeed, this is how I really want to be. I think this should be the focus for my life...not for my day.

Thanks again!

Julie,
The purpose of knowing the things you don't want actually make room for more opportunities and the things you do want to come into your life. The action step has nothing negative such as "getting rid of the person you do not want to be."
For instance, when I wrote "I do not want to be driving 80 miles round trip into the cities for a job" I had no idea what that might look like or end up to be, but it translated into "I can work from home!" And I am!!
You are so right that focusing on acting and listening with your heart can be a daily practice lasting a lifetime!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a note. I appreciate you very much, my friend.

I'm trying!

Although the voices in my head don't talk as fancy as yours. :-)
