I’m listening to Debbie Ford through The Shift Network’s Inspiring Women Summit; she’s talking about her next book on courage.

Ms. Ford speaks of tapping into your Divine Self and how once you do, your fears subside. Her feelings on this subject mirror my own. My Personal Secrets of Self-Transformation are aligned with her observations of healing your heart; of overcoming self-sabotage.

If you are living a life that is not your own, if you are working at a job you hate or fear is in jeopardy, please listen to this 35-minute recording. You will learn how to move efficiently, effortlessly, and easily through any life-changing event – and the smaller events, too; you will also hear a few secrets to a richness beyond imagination.

One of my favorite exercises I guide my transitioners through consists of identifying their fears and to begin a conversation with them. Now, as silly as that may sound to you, or even scary for you, this practice actually strengthens your core, your Inner Self.

After you listen to the recording, come back here and leave a comment. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Dream On!

I love the connection you've made here between fear and self-sabotage!

Having a converstation with your fears is a brilliant activity Peggy. Looking them straight on is difficult for many of us because fear is a very powerful motivator. It's also been my experince that the anticipation of outcome, the fear, is often diminished greatly when explored and the reality often very different.

Keep on being fabulous, I am looking forward to listening to the call you talk about.

Tambre,
Fear is often tied to self-sabotage; "if I (insert action) I shall certainly fail."
Thanks for stopping by...always glad to see you here.

Hi Bonnie,
The conversation is one I love to have, especially with my transitioners... once I show them how unscary it can be - well, that's when the real fun begins!

It sounds so simple but...how many people can get to the level of identifying their full fears?

Roberta,
The ones who dig deeply into their Self, who want more out of their life, those who really and seriously want to excel and change -- are the ones who will seek the truth in their fears. Facing fear doesn't have to be scary and I show my transitioners how that can work. It's one of my favorite things to do for them.

Tackling fear is a big step. It is the type of fear we deal with in which will help us define how we may be able to make the changes necessary to overcome those fears. I think maturity plays a role as well... we learn from life and our past situations.

I think when there is a fear that I have to deal with PeggyLee, I'm going to try the exercise you mention here!

I have struggled with fear my entire life. I think I have made some progress but it still rears it's ugly head at times. I like your idea to have a conversation with your fear.

Lynn,
You are correct.. maturity does play a role in facing our fears. And sometimes it's because we are ready and know it's time to face them - especially if we want to grow.
If you would like to assistance while having the conversation, I'd be honored to be there with you. Just let me know.

Hi Janette,
Nothing can be more freeing than facing what scares us most; it takes a certain amount of bravery. Yet, we all have the courage necessary to meet up with them; however, we don't have to do it alone. Journaling is a great way to begin... let your thoughts flow whatever comes to mind. Please let me know how I can help with the process.

Confronting fear is a great idea. When you don't do that, fear wins and continues to grow more powerful. This is the year I'm challenging myself to face and conquer fears. It's been an interesting ride! :)

Lisa, it was a fear all its own when I first heard about not only facing or confronting your fear, but also speak with it -- find out why it's hanging around, etc. I'd love to hear what your discovery has been with your own. Thanks for stopping by and commenting; appreciated very much.
