“The person who is merely a “good” worker, filling his place to the very best of his ability and satisfied with that, is valuable to his employer, and it is not to the employer’s interest to promote him. He is worth more where he is.” The Science of Getting Rich, p.54

Day 19 - Chapter 15: The Advancing Personality

Wow. When I read today’s opening quote in the book, I was astonished at the words I wrote yesterday of how I felt my value was perceived in my corporate job. Could it possibly be that at some point I had been too valuable where I was for promotion? Ah, that explains why I did not get the training representative position which would have sent me all over the world and nearly double my salary!

Or maybe, the reason is because of what is written in the next paragraph:

“The person who is certain to advance is the one who is too big for his place, who has a clear concept of what he wants to be, who knows that he can become what he wants to be, and who is determined to BE what he wants to be.”

That definitely was me.

Nancy Matthews, The Visionary with Guts, developed a course, Receive Your Riches, based on the path she followed while putting The Science of Getting Rich into action. You are reading my journalism assignment.

Each position held, I was working on the next advancement. In reality, I was uncertain where I was headed, but I knew it was up the corporate ladder. And I did have a goal in mind: to acquire the marketable skills necessary to survive outside the company.

Huh. I guess that goal was achieved!

Because of my uncertainty and not being specific with regards to the marketable skills, I naturally progressed and found my calling in coaching, mentoring those who were at a crossroad. These people had been coming to me for a very long time. And it was through my years at the airline where I learned the skill how to best assist them. Each situation was as unique to the person as was the solution.

I am able to advance the lives of those who seek my guidance. What an honor God and the Universe bestowed upon me.

What are you doing to help advance the life of someone you know?

To your success,
PeggyLee
