“The more people who get rich on the competitive plane, the worse for others. The more who get rich on the creative plane, the better for others.” The Science of Getting Rich, p.17
Are you familiar with Toastmasters? It is an international organization based on helping individuals increase and succeed in speaking and leadership skills. I belong to two of such clubs.
Each year speaking contests occur within the clubs; the winner of the International Speech Contest can advance all the way to what is called the World Stage of Speaking, competing with six other contestants for the highest honor.
The one piece of advice given to contestants from the very first speech in their club is this: Remember that you are only competing with yourself.
Mr. Wattles explains that concept in this chapter. Creativeness beats out Competitiveness each and every time. One is more successful and gets richer while on the creative field of play. You are more focused on what you are doing rather than on what is happening with your competitor.
Had I taken this route when younger, I’d be much farther ahead today.
That brings up another point of Mr. Wattles: “Always speak in terms of advancement. To do otherwise is to deny your faith, and to deny your faith is to lose it.”
At times I do talk about what’s not working to a trusted friend; however, it is only to get me back on track with positive thinking. When talking things out loud, I can generally find the answer, the epiphany, I’m seeking.
So, am I to no longer question my questions?
What do you think about that in asking your own questions?
To your success,
“Go on in full faith.” ~W.D. Wattles
