Placing third in any contest is nothing to sneeze at, even if there were only three contestants. You show other contenders or perhaps other wannabes how it’s done. You show up to participate and compete. You show what you’re made of, your mettle. You show your willingness to do your very best. And you may show that although very nervous beforehand, it’s a normal emotion.
But it also teaches what can be done in future challenges – whether a race, competition, or game – and about yourself in life.
As far as placing beyond third, refer back to paragraphs two and three. You showed up. You chose to participate. You displayed courage. You, too, have nothing to sneeze at.
Go ahead. Enter a race. Set up your own competition. Take action to show what you can do.
"We've shown we're capable of showing up for the battle."
