You will see and hear a lot of comments on all media outlets today; for today is the day the United States votes on who is to be the president and vice-president for the next four years.
Let me interject here a shout-out to all the East Coast affected by Sandy: May your power be restored in more ways than one—as I know it shall!
Power was not the segue I was anticipating, but I’ll take it.
Indeed, each day is made up of choices in your daily routine of life. You elect what event, task, or chore wins over another. You elect what television or radio station to watch and listen to. You may elect one product over another while shopping. The electoral candidates and choices seem nearly infinite!
Last evening I made a choice. I finally let go of something that was eating away my time. And if truth be told, it was a person. I removed them from my line of sight so I could move on to concentrate on more important things, such as my business and serving my audience better. I had intended on completing this task weeks earlier; however, simply could not bring myself to elect to select the delete option.
Feeling a wave of blessings right now. Oh, what a feeling! Especially after just letting go of something I needed to for a long time. It takes bravery to let something meaningful go; that’s when courage steps in for an assist.
The oddity of the situation is that the person I let go of was the first person I remember telling me how brave I was with sharing my deeply personal stories.
Things change. Situations change. Friendships and relationships of all kinds change. But they change because growth happens. Sometimes the growth happens together; and when it does not, separation is most likely to occur. That was the case here. We both grew, however, in different directions. And it’s all good.
Today is just like any other day, except this day in particular a nation will elect its leader.
What elections will you make today that will provide you with a new or renewed sense of power?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
To your success,
“We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt
