At the end of 2008 I had no idea what the future held for me, but knew the only way to know was to take charge over my own destiny. My position with Northwest Airlines had come to an end after twenty-one years.
Although very disappointed and emotionally distraught, the change had been welcomed because it gave me the freedom to choose what direction my future would be going in, having endless possibilities.
I began to count all the blessings in my life—from the very small to the very large—this was through a money management program…. one week’s instruction was to look around my home from where I was sitting, not just looking at everything in the room, but “seeing” everything in the room.
This made me realize that each item, every pillow, every picture, the clock, our TV was gotten from the abundance in my life…. learning to appreciate not only the item but the abundance….to realize that I had abundance, which began a huge mind shift…. I stopped concentrating on what I lacked.
To this day I see only what I have and feel the gifts, the blessings I have in my life, thanking God for them all.
