“That clear mental picture you must have continually in mind. As the sailor has in mind the port toward which he is sailing the ship, you must keep your face toward it all the time. You must no more lose sight of it than the helmsman loses sight of the compass.” ~The Science of Getting Rich, p.31
My favorite quote comes from the movie, Miracle on 34th Street. The little girl, Susan, dreams of a house with a swing in the backyard. “I believe. I believe. It’s silly, but I believe,” she says while driving home with her mother, Doris, and friend, Fred.
Dr. Wayne Dyer says something like, “If you think it, so it will become.”
If you’ve followed me for a while or read one of my first two books, you may know that once a few years ago I wrote a list of items to accomplish when aged 55. And if you followed me during the last few years, you know that the items on that list began to pop off the page and come true!
It was how I envisioned my life at a certain age by thinking in a certain way. Now, I didn’t think about those items on the list every day because they were ingrained in my heart. I had a purpose for writing them too. The list was created so that I could be my own person, in charge of my own destiny, and to be wealthy and do what I wanted when I wanted; in short to live a life luxury as I saw fit.
I wanted to be free to visit my children at any given moment no matter where they lived in the world. I wanted to have the freedom that comes with wealth; a business that could run itself even if I wasn’t there every day.
Now, I must confess that when the list began manifesting, coming true, it was in a way I had not fully foreseen or wanted. I lost my job in gaining the freedom I sought. Even though the future became quite scary, I was nevertheless ecstatic for my new adventure, the one I dreamed of.
My WHY still remains the same to this day—to live a life a luxury as I see fit—but now I have focus in how I want to arrive there. Being able to walk up to anyone on the street or in a room filled with people and grant them their dream on the spot—or to get the ball rolling for them—is the biggest dream I have for myself in helping others to accomplish and attain their dream.
