Ms. Walker's statement resonates and takes me back to my corporate days. When beginning work so many years ago, every job held has brought me along a path to where I'm at today. All the people I've met along the way shaped my thought processes. They were my instigators, my protagonists, my catalysts and catapults.
While continuing the journey each day of writing, creating, living, and loving I am reminded of the blessings of family, friends, and clients.
On this day one hundred years ago, my paternal grandparents were married. When I married my husband we inherited the "threshing table" they received for their wedding. The table is named such because it has eleven leaves, opening it up to seat fourteen and was often used during harvesting season to feed the crews. We used it on many family and holiday occasions. Currently it is in need of repair, but holds the "joys of work" in preparing the meals. If only it could talk; what wonderful stories it might share.
What stories do you have to share? What paths have you traveled? What "joys of work" have you written on this journey?
"So in the end you can't even really regret your misfortunes—because they led you somewhere," Alice Walker, Open Road Media video
