A few years ago while still in the corporate world, I wanted to rank up to a manager position. It wasn’t because of the pay or the prestige, but because of what a good manager does—motivates and supports.
I received the book, “Encouraging the Heart,” written by James M. Kouzes and Barry Posner, from a dear friend. I immediately devoured it! That book was ME! It was who I was, who I wanted to remain, and who I wanted to become! “Encouraging the Heart” is a wonderful resource and also a self-discovery workbook in which I thoroughly enjoyed while increasing my leadership skills. I then began reading more and more about this type of leadership, especially since experiencing it firsthand with my last corporate manager made me appreciate that style all the more.

Another book on my recommended list is “Resonant Leadership,” written by Richard E. Boyatzis and Annie McKee. This book is for those who are already in a leadership role as well as for those of us just beginning. “Resonant Leadership” discusses how to relieve burnout and never get it back again. The authors present a mindful approach of working to understand and improve the situations of others; to visualize a positive and realistic dream; and to move from problems to solutions.

Leading from my heart is what I intend to do as Coach.
Have a blessed day!
“When you really pay attention—when you’re curious, when you look for the best, when you put others first, when you listen with eyes and heart, when you hang out, when you open up to and with others—then you find what you’re seeking.” ~excerpt from Encouraging the Heart, Kouzes and Posner
