Setting the intention of waking to renewed spirit, a question answered, or a problem solved is what helps the mind quiet so you can peaceably sleep, feeling refreshed in the morning. There has been many a sunrise that I’ve witnessed where less than the desired amount of shut-eye was reached. However, upon those waking moments, my mind raced with new ideas, too many to keep me in bed.
A few experts call these “aha moments.” I call them the answers that lay within us all, and easily accessible when our mind is quiet, as when we are sleeping. Those who meditate also easily reach this quieted state. I’ve used that method as well, yet feel sometimes I don’t have the extra minutes in the day to do so, but that’s a different post.
Recently I worked rather hard on a project. By the end of the day, I was exhausted. My emotions were running all over the place and decided the next day was to be one spent doing whatever I wanted, not feeling pressured with work, and taking some much needed down time.
And then I had a night as outlined above of a quieted mind. I woke with renewed and refreshed spirit and ideas. I received wonderful news about the work I accomplished the day before. My fingers couldn’t stop typing the words that were coming from my brain. I was replenished. I woke with great-i-tude. Good things are happening still.
Do you know how to quiet your mind? How do you arrive at the answers you seek? What self-imposed limits do you reach and say, “Enough is enough,” and take time for yourself?
