“You must give every man more in use value than he gives you in cash value.” ~The Science of Getting Rich, p.41
If only I had some money saved up, I could quit my job and do what I really want.
If only my boss could see that I am capable and deserving of the job promotion.
How often have you said to yourself that when “this” happens, then I can “do this?”
For you technical writers and programmers out there, you may be familiar with the If/Then protocol; when a particular situation occurs or wanting it to occur, something else must happen first.
If the parameter of my thinking holds a dream of becoming a doctor, then I must go to school to educate myself.
If cell B2 is equal to 5 or above, then cell D19 is Code Z.
I am in this job now that I don’t like, but if I want to change direction, then I have to lose my security blanket.
Create a plan around it. Estimate how much time you’ll need; how much money you’ll need to make the leap.
At times we look so far down the road, too far to see our desired destination clearly, that we tend to forget it’s the plan that will get us there; each step we take gets us closer.
Act in a certain way.
I love how Mr. Wattles talks about doing things “in the certain way.”
By acting in the certain way, creating a plan, plotting out each step, you can gain the riches you seek. You don’t need to give up the security you presently have in order to get it. But you must begin to act now and act now in the present moment, not in the future.
I am launching a project in a few weeks. Before I read this chapter, I took the time to log the tasks necessary, and then further broke them down into ordered steps. I did things in a certain way that will ensure my success—gaining the riches I seek from the event.
What do you wish to accomplish? How will you receive what you seek? I’d love to hear about it.
To your success,
“Do not give your creative impulse to original substance, and then sit down and wait for results. If you do, you will never get them. Act now. There is never any time but now, and there never will be any time but now. If you are ever to begin to make ready for the reception of what you want, you must begin NOW.” ~W.D. Wattles
