This morning as I got out of bed, my thoughts turned to what I planned for the day – a day filled with writing. I have a column to write for tomorrow and tweets for Wednesday’s “splash day” promotion with The Gratitude Book Project® series I’m affiliated with.
My thoughts also turned to validation of my work in progress. Not that I need it any longer, but receiving synchronistic messages from associates or God and the Universe is especially uplifting and enlightening.
As I sat down to begin my day of writing, the phone rang. It was a recruiter asking if I might be interested in a temporary position as an instructional designer – what I did in the corporate world – creating instructor led courses.
Well, my morning of writing took a turn. I still wrote, however, it was in the form of updating my resume. I could have instantly been disgruntled with the interruption, but I saw it with a tincture of thankfulness. I still have the ability, skill, and knowledge to develop courses for others to teach.
The question, however, that came to mind was, “Can I be the corporate instructional designer plus continue my purpose work?” No reasons immediately popped to the surface then or now.
I thought about opportunity, how when one shows up not to discount it, but to meet it squarely on. You never know where it might take you.
What is an opportunity that recently came to you? Did you say “yes” to it? Had you put it aside to think over the offer? Could you appreciate the value of the opportunity enough to feel gratitude in receiving it?
I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts.
